FAQ

This sections contains a list of frequently asked questions;

Are the classes safe for me or my son/daughter

Injuries are rare in our classes as we place a heavy emphasis on safety and all our instructors and students are trained to consider their safety and that of those around them first. For example , when wrestling we generally begon on our knees and have students and instructors walking around the mat to ensure no one runs into anyone else.

All of the floor's and walls are padded to maximise safety

Specific moves are banned in the classes and some are only permitted at certain levels or grades.

We provide training to children as young as 4 and separate students based on age and size

Are there many women in your classes and how do they find the training?
We have a significant number of women in our adult Thai boxing and kids self defence classes, we also have a consistent number of women in our BJJ classes.

A lot of our female students have been with us for years and love it. They find the men extremely supportive and willing to work quite happily with the girls, come down and have a look for youself

Arent you just a bunch of cage fighters/meat heads/thugs ?
Although a number of our students compete in either amatuer fights or professional fights the vast majority simply participate in the sport for exercise, camaraderie, love of the sport and a dozen other benefits.

BJJ training is normally done from the knees and students in any class who are overly aggressive, display poor attitude or sportsmanship are asked to leave

BJJ is often referred to as the Chess of martial arts as its not usually the strongest who wins, its the most technical and skilled.

The criticism that comes of cage fights is usually based on a lack of understanding of the safety levels involved and/or a poorly run backyard show. Well run tournaments place safety first and anyone stepping into the cage knows why and what they are there for.

It should also be noted that there are far less injuries in BJJ/MMA than football (league or union), this is usually due to respect for your opponent, discouragement of excessive aggression, you are generally the same size as your opponent and the fact that there are only two of you involved. For example its not uncommon to see a 80-85kg back in football being tackled by two or three 100kg plus forwards. Which sport is safer ?

Can I use my North Manly membership at Warriewood or vice versa ?

There are a couple of ways this can work, if you are on unlimited membership we can set you up to train at either location. Speak to your instructor about how this works.

If you are a member on Gold (Three times per week) you are welcome to have a casual lesson for $10.00, otherwise all other members are welcome to have a casual lesson for $12.50

Why should I train with you ?

Please refer to our testimonials, what we do and home pages for details of this, or come down to a lesson and talk to our instructors and other students. We find students of MMA and BJJ have different needs and questions which are best answered face to face.

We have had students try three or four different schools before settling on ours. Most of our students are with us for years.

Our school has been established in its current location at Manly for over 10 years and been in operation for over 16 years

Whats the difference between langes-mma.com and langesmma.com
Basically langes-mma.com is for our warriewood and artarmon gym and langesmma.com is our North Manly gym

They are also separately run organisations although Anthony Lange manages and supervises both to ensure standards are met and maintained
